Love Is in the Air

Roses are red, violets are blue…

Venus

…Venus loves roses, and so do you!
It’s said that The red rose was the favorite flower of Venus, the Roman goddess of love. What is yours?

According to multiple sources–however still an estimate–, %73 of people around the globe who buy flowers for Valentine’s Day are men, while only %27 are women. As for the people living in the U.S., %15 of the women send themselves flowers on Valentine’s Day, while over $1 billion worth of chocolate is purchased for Valentine’s Day.

Crazy numbers. But not as crazy as our party is going to be!

Wear reds and blacks

Valentine's Day Mixer 11 RE

Mark your calendars and clear up your schedules, because we’re celebrating the Chocolate Day early! It will be a loud afternoon in the Student Lounge tomorrow, starting at 5:30 PM. DJ Mondee B. just reported that he’s finished putting together his lovely and catchy setlist for the party, and he warned me that you might not be ready for this! Those are some big words there, Mr. DJ. We can’t wait to listen to his setlist!

Student Government Association (SGA) has a couple of tricks up their sleeves, as well! Our fellow SGA representatives have arranged a tasty little catering for you including cupcakes(!) in celebration of Valentine’s Day as well as a selection of wine in order to boost up your joy along with our DJ’s Valentine’s Day themed setlist!

If you’re brave enough to wear reds and blacks to the party, you might get involved in a fun game.

GGU Social will be there with you, celebrating our first gathering since the launch. We will try to talk with each and every one of you to gather your feedback, and we’re expecting you to do the same. Come chat with us and share your story! Or maybe challenge us in a game of pool? Remember, the more you participate, the more fun we’ll have together!

Conceptual Talk

We’ve got some serious things to mention before wrapping up today’s post and getting ready for tomorrow… Those of you who have been following GGU Social since the exclusive announcement that took place on January 16th might already know that we’ve been hoping to label our post days and use hashtags in order to make it easier for you to navigate around the blog and more fun to post things around.

As we announced on our last Sunday post, Sundays are now going to help us become smarter, and will be labeled #SmarterEverySunday. Be on the look out for travel destinations once every two weeks, fun and interesting facts that you might not have known about the culture you’re surrounded with on #SmarterEverySundays!

Wednesdays, on the other hand, are going  to focus on socializing and will feature the events that are taking place on and around the campus with the label #SocialWednesday. We’re hoping that this will bring us closer together and allow us create GGU Social Exclusive gatherings in the future where we can either sit down in the Student Lounge or go for a hike at Sutro Baths!
While we’re closing up to our first month anniversary, we’d like to remind you that we thirst for your feedback! Please let us know what you think of GGU Social so far, as well as the topics and features you’d like us to include! Please contribute in this 2-question survey to let us know a little bit about your thoughts. You can also e-mail us at ggusocial@ggu.edu.

Until Sunday,
Tarik A.
