This March is going to be…
“Legen…Wait for it…Dary! Legendary.”
If you’re looking for ways to improve your networking skills, shape your career path and are finally getting done with your midterms, you might find the next couple of weeks very interesting and insightful!
But how, you say? Let’s get right to it!
ELEVATE your career
The answer is ELEVATE your career. The Office of Career Planning is going to be hosting a major professional development event on March 11th. The event consists of two main sessions.
The first session Professional Development Panel will be starting at 3:00 PM, featuring representatives from Contra Costa County Health Services, Goodwill, The Parkinson’s Institute, Twitter, Yahoo! for good, and Year Up Bay Area as well as GGU alumni who will be sharing their experiences with volunteerism and community engagement as vehicles for professional and personal development in their corporate careers.
The second session Professional Development Fair will be following up right after the panel event, starting at 4:00 PM. During this part of the event, you will be able to:
- Learn how you can get involved with non-profit organizations
- Discover ways to give back to your community
- Grow your professional network
- Sign up for Professional Associations
And as a bonus, you will be able to update your LinkedIn profile with the help of an official LinkedIn coach as well as getting your profile photo taken by our guest professional photographer, Andria Lo.
This is an opportunity you don’t want to miss! Go ahead and register here, and see you there!
After taking all that information in, you will probably find yourself in search of an event that will help calming your mind. If you enjoy letting nature help calm your mind by taking a hike, and gazing at the beauty of sky, then Student Life has got you covered! This year’s GGU’s Spring Hike destination is Glen Canyon Park. We will be there, so should you!
*More on Glen Canyon Park hike next week!
…any fellow—future—psychologists there? Golden Gate University’s Psychology Association will also be hosting a panel event this month! If you’re studying Psychology, and wondering what future is holding for you, then you can take this opportunity to meet and interact your fellow students/psychologists on this Friday, March 4th!
Looks like an awesome way to start the month, doesn’t it?! We really hope that you will take advantage of these insights and make the best of these events. If you missed the story of Alcatraz Island on last Sunday’s post, make sure to read it here. We hear that some of you have already started thinking about a possible GGU Social trip to Alcatraz Island… Well, we like ghosts. And we know who we gonna call. So, why not!?
Here’s a gift for those who get the pun!
Please let us know what you think of GGU Social so far, and submit the topics and features you would like us to include by e-mailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org! You can also contribute in this 2-question survey to let us know a little bit about your thoughts.
