Paint the World with Color

LGBT Black Ribbon

We would like to start off this week’s post by sending our thoughts and love out to every single victim of the worst mass shooting in modern US history that took place in Orlando, Florida on June 12th.

It breaks my heart to wake up to a day where hate dominates love, and discrimination shatters the unity among humanity. Like John Lennon once said, “We live in a world where we have to hide to make love, while violence is practiced in broad daylight.”

This most recent violent act is unfortunately not the only event that is deeply saddening for everyone around the world; however, I would like to take this time to remind you of our most precious value of all: love. I kindly ask all of our readers to remind people around you that they belong and make sure that they know they are loved. There’s already more than enough darkness surrounding us. Let’s stop painting it black. Let’s paint it with color.

If you feel in need of talking to someone, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at, and remember that GGU provides individual counseling for students who would like to speak with someone privately. If you’re in need of a counseling service, log into your GGU4YOU account to access Wellness Resources.

Our dear friends at the L.O.V.E. Club are going to be sending out a thousand origami cranes to Orlando as a show of our love and support as GGU community. Students, faculty staff and even guests have been helping them out in the making of these tokens of peace. Go visit their table at the HUB tomorrow; next Tuesday, or Thursday anytime from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM to help them out with their beautiful act of support. And sign up for the SF Pride Parade here to represent our community on June 26th!

Click here if you would like to read more about the parade. (They have about 30 more t-shirts left to giveaway!)

Now let’s get back to our #SocialWednesday tradition as we have some exciting news to deliver!
