Today, we are here to share an important announcement with our readers. This week, we have started the preparations for our next chapter and we are excited to announce that we are now looking for GGU Social’s new writer!
Brace yourselves, it’s about to get a little emotional.
You don’t see me write in the “I Language” on GGU Social often; however, I will go ahead and step out of my comfort zone for a second to admit that it’s been quite a journey since I said “yes!” and taken on the editor role of GGU Social. One of the biggest motivations that led my team to create GGU Social was to bring different groups of the GGU community closer by following our motto, “by students, for students.” In a nutshell, the idea was for a student to create and maintain a communication channel for our students, and enhance the overall student experience at Golden Gate University.
I feel fortunate to have been given the opportunity create this platform and the permission to take the concept even further to actively communicate with the diverse student body of Golden Gate University and mentor those who are in need.
Since my team and I started this journey in the January of 2016, GGU Social has had 7000 views with over 3800 readers. From social gatherings on campus to off-site trips and hikes, I planned and organized many social events; and partnered with SGA and various student clubs to assist the planning and promotion of their professional events.
With my graduation being right around the corner, we have decided that it is about time for me to hand this position over to the next fortunate student, and started the search for GGU Social’s new writer before the end of Summer ’17 Term. We believe that starting the search early will give the candidates a good amount of time to think, consider, and prepare to apply for the position. I encourage all of the creative souls of our community to apply for this position as I truly cannot imagine what my life would have been like if I had not taken the leap of faith on this opportunity.

Before I move onto the events section of this week’s post, I would like to thank all of GGU Social’s readers for sticking around, attending our events, and showing interest in our cause! I hope that GGU Social’s next chapter will be even more colorful and eventful; however, until the transition happens, you’re stuck with your one and only!
Now let’s take a look at a couple of events that will take place on campus this week.
Events to keep an eye on
Office of Career Planning’s next monthly Career Meetup featuring Mike Sanchez from WisePR will take place on campus this afternoon in Room 6210 starting 5:00PM.
Our friends in the Project Management club will host their PMI Guest Speaker Event in Room 5224 starting at 5:00PM tomorrow.
Our Student Life department is offering free guided meditation to all students every Thursday in Room 4208, from 5:30 to 6:30PM throughout the entire Summer ’17 Term. Stop by, reduce your stress and increase your peace.
*The event is a drop-in, and you can attend all or just part of the meditation.
Once again, thank you for reading GGU Social! If you missed last week’s post, you can read it here. In next week’s post, we will introduce you to one of our new student clubs, so make sure to stop by next Wednesday!
Until next week,
