Welcome newcomers!! And happy new year to all of the community!! As you may know, we were recruiting for a new GGU Social editor and we now have one! Please, welcome Candida Pierce! She is part of our international student community from England and is currently enrolled in the Industrial/Organizational Psychology program. I encourage all of you to reach out to her with ideas and articles you wish to.share with us all.
Now, a few words from Candida, our new Editor:
Welcome back and happy 2019 to all new and returning students! I’m really excited to be greeting you all as your new GGU Social Editor. Fernando has left big shoes to fill, but with your help and support, I hope we can build on the excellent work that he’s left behind as he moves on to other things.
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m originally from Oxford, England and I’m in my second year in the Industrial-Organizational Psychology program. I did my undergrad at the University of Kent at Canterbury (UK) with an exchange year at Purdue University, Indiana. I then went to law school in London and since then, I’ve been an employment law attorney, a TV journalist at the BBC and I even owned my own food truck for a while (FYI – making cupcakes for a living is MUCH harder than it looks!). I’m still trying to figure out a way to combine all three careers, but until I do, I’m working for GGU Admission’s department alongside my studies.
But now I’d like to hear about you. I hope you all had a fantastic winter break, wherever in the world you’ve been. GGU Social is about you and for you and a chance to give a voice to our amazingly diverse student population. We have such a wealth of different experiences, ages, and nationalities here in both the business and law schools and I’d love to tap into that diversity to address topics that resonate with all of us, but through a variegated perspective.
To kick off, I’d love you to share some memories of your holidays – if you can email any stories, thoughts and/or pictures into me at firstname.lastname@example.org, I’ll include some in an upcoming post. I’d also like to hear from you with any suggestions of items you’d like GGU Social to cover. This could be events at school, your favorite Bay Area days out/restaurants, impactful topical issues – you get the idea. And for new students – I met several of you at orientation -what are your hopes, aims and experiences so far for your time at GGU?
I’m looking forward to hearing from you and don’t forget to check out our facebook page and Instagram.
