Work, internships, volunteering, interviews – trying to figure out how where to start, who to talk to, what needs to be done and how to do it can be overwhelming. Especially when there’s the small matter of studies and, for many of us, a day job to factor into the equation. This is where we could all use a little extra help and the university’s resources are a great place to start. If you’re not familiar with the Office of Career Planning, then do get in touch. We’ve recently blogged about the importance of volunteering and Career Planning can give guidance on this too, but they’re also a great source of information about all things internship and career related.
Neepa (the departmental director) and her team regularly put on events, workshops and opportunities to network with prospective employers and you should keep an eye on what they have planned. For example, were you at the recent ELEVATE event? Attendees included Aquarium of the Bay, BAYAC Americorps and the Warriors. Most of the university clubs were in attendance such as the Psychology Club, HRM Club, ITM Club and the Accounting Club. And a photographer was on hand to help with those ever critical Linkedin profiles – totally free of charge.
