This week, we’re reflecting on one of GGU’s most important resources – tutoring! This service is free to students, but not everyone seems to know about it. So, we’re here to add an additional voice to the chorus of those advocating for and on behalf of this service because so many of those who’ve taken it up have found it invaluable. And we want you to use it, too!

So, what is tutoring is offered? GGU offers additional resources for those who may need some extra help with their writing and math skills- and let’s face it, so many of us could… We may have been out of school for a while and just need a reminder of some of the rules of grammar. Or we may need extra help if English isn’t our first language and we lack confidence. Or we feel like math isn’t our strong suit and to check up on the basics. There are also those who feel self-conscious asking questions in class. There are so many reasons why GGU students may choose to reach out to a tutor and none of them are wrong. If you need help, you need help and that’s why the tutors are there. So, if you feel in any way uncertain about whether or not to get in touch, don’t hesitate. They don’t want you to struggle alone – just reach out and see where it takes you?

The tutoring is one-to-one and it is offered both in-person and online. We all have preferred methods of working – I’m an ‘in person’ fan all day long – but I know many others who either prefer the online methodology or who live at such a distance that additional trips into school unworkable. So, GGU has you covered!

So, what do you need to do? Visit ggu4you. For writing, go here:-

and for math, visit here:-

and you’ll find all the links you need. But essentially, you can submit your work and/or questions through the online portal and receive feedback. For example, the writing tutors aim to get back to you within 24-48 hours of submission. If you’d prefer an in-person experience, you can either make an appointment of the writing tutors have a ‘drop in’ lab where you can enjoy a tutoring session with one of the experts. And don’t forget, that they’re absolutely free of charge! The lab takes place in the library and the full schedule is on ggu4you.

And the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I was recently talking to a friend who used the tutoring service for some extra support doing a statistics class. He told me he wouldn’t have got through the course without it! So what are you waiting for? If in doubt, get in touch. They want to hear from you!.
