As we are approaching the weekend, I thought this would be a great opportunity to share my current favorite activity. The best way I have found to get out of the house and get some exercise (safely) is going for walks, hikes and runs.
While we continue to navigate this new normal of making sure to practice social distancing, washing our hands and most importantly wearing a face covering I think being outdoors is awesome! Feeling the sun on your skin and taking in all that fresh air, I have found it very helpful as I am sure all of you have.
Here are some of the great walks and hikes I have been on recently all over the Bay:
Muir Woods – of course this has to be on the list. The red woods are an incredible site and if you get the chance make sure to look up for a dizzying adventure.
Marshalls Beach – here you’ll find some of the best views of the Golden Gate Bridge. It can be chilly at times so don’t forget to pack an extra layer!
Mount Tamalpais – aka Mount Tam, the views are mesmerizing unless of course Karl the fog is involved.
Tilden Park – this is one is my favorite parks in Berkeley, not only because I live nearby, but also it offers some spectacular hiking trails with views of the Bay.
Berkeley Rose Garden – this is another great spot to take a moment to stop and “smell the roses”. I may be impartial to this one because roses are my mom’s favorite flowers, but it is truly a great place to relax outdoors.
Half Moon Bay – if you would like to venture out of the city and down the coast for a short drive, this one is for you. Great views and of course the sounds of waves crashing – what’s not to love?
Here are a couple of suggestions for anyone who has a four-legged friend:
Point Isabel – a great place for your dog to go off leash and play with others. And, on a clear day you can get great views of the city!
Mission Bay Dog Park – this dog park is great for your furry friend if you are in the city. After play time you can always walk to the Ferry Building for coffee to go!
Finally, here are some awesome Apps which can help you plan your next adventure:
All Trails – definitely my favorite app! It details awesome trail routes, effort level, and elevation gain. Everything you need to prep for your next hike.
GPS MY CITY – this one is great for all you city explorers – amazing city trails and you can even save them off line.
Whenever you decide to venture out for your next exploring mission, please make sure to follow state guidelines, keep six-feet apart, and wear a mask around others.
Stay safe and stay healthy. See you next week!
